The Olissipo Castelo is a relatively large and modern hotel for an area of Lisbon characterised by crumbling guesthouses. Situated within one of the most tranquil districts of Lisbon, it's the perfect choice for couples in search of a romantic break. The winding backstreets of historical Alfama are within walking distance and the choice of fantastic miradouros is endless.
The hotel itself boasts all sorts of modern facilities and staff are friendly and welcoming. A generous but limited parking area is available, although guests are unable to book in advance. Rooms are inoffensive, but mottled wallpaper and plaster fittings resemble a suburban show home. Still, the spacious private terraces enjoyed by the rooms on the second and third floors are a nice touch.
The bulk of guests are early-to-bed, early-to-rise middle-class tourists. Definitely not the place for a party, but ideal for those who crave peace and quiet.
