Farol Design Hotel is undoubtedly Lisbon's hippest hotel and possibly of all this corner of Europe has to offer. Found on the rocky
peninsula of Cascais's northern shore, Farol's 33 design rooms mix abstract
features with a faux-period twist to create an exciting and alternative vibe.
The hotel is a remodelled 19th-century mansion once owned by the Count of Cabral. The aristocratic feel is maintained throughout with gilded furnishings given a modern flourish by the use of ever-so-cool black and white, making a contrasting mix of contemporary, minimalism, classic and cultured.
Ten of Portugal's top fashion designers such as Ana Salazar and Miguel Vieira were brought in to individually deck out the hotel's 'design rooms' to outstanding results. The black tones, which are used throughout blend in with the surrounding beached granite rocks upon which the hotel is set. The hotel has one restaurant and a sushi bar and super cool pool and bar area for body beautiful priming and posing.
